Why Use Filters?

When your search returns thousands of results, filters help you narrow down to exactly what you need. ReconX provides several filtering options that you can combine for precise results.

Date Range Filters

Filter results by when the data was breached or indexed:

  • Last 7 days - Recent breaches only
  • Last 30 days - Past month
  • Last 90 days - Past quarter
  • Custom range - Pick specific start and end dates

Date filtering is essential when you're investigating a specific incident or want to see only fresh exposure data.

Source Type Filters

Filter by the type of breach data:

  • Stealer Logs - Data from infostealer malware infections
  • Database Dumps - SQL dumps and database exports
  • Combo Lists - Email:password combinations
  • Paste Sites - Data posted on paste services
  • Dark Web - Data from dark web marketplaces

Different source types contain different kinds of information. Stealer logs often have full session data, while combo lists typically just have credentials.

File Type Filters

Filter by the type of file containing the data:

  • Text files (.txt, .log)
  • CSV/TSV - Structured data files
  • SQL files - Database dumps
  • Archives - Contents from .zip, .rar, .7z

File Size Filters

Filter by the size of source files:

  • Small - Under 1 MB
  • Medium - 1 MB to 100 MB
  • Large - Over 100 MB

Larger files often contain more comprehensive breach data, while smaller files might be targeted extracts.

Extracted Data Filters

Filter based on what types of data were found in the files:

  • Contains emails - Files with extracted email addresses
  • Contains URLs - Files with extracted URLs
  • Contains passwords - Files with password-like strings
  • Contains credit cards - Files with potential payment data

Combining Filters

Filters work together with AND logic. For example:

  • Date: Last 30 days + Source: Stealer Logs = Recent stealer infections only
  • Domain search + Contains passwords = Credentials from your domain

Saving Filter Preferences

If you frequently use the same filters, you can:

  1. Set up your preferred filters
  2. Bookmark the resulting URL
  3. Return to those exact filters later

Clearing Filters

To reset all filters and see unfiltered results, click the "Clear Filters" button or the X next to each active filter. This returns you to the full result set for your search query.

Filter Performance Tips

  • Start broad, then narrow down with filters
  • Date filters significantly speed up queries
  • Combining multiple filters reduces result count, making it easier to review
